The 2022 Municipal Election is just around the corner! District of Mackenzie residents will have the opportunity to elect a new Mayor and Council, as well as a new School Trustee to represent their community on the School District 57 Board. General Voting day is Saturday, October 15, 2022. We will have two advance voting opportunities: Wednesday October 5; and Friday October 14. Mail Ballot Voting is also available to all eligible voters this year, making it easier than ever for you to cast your vote in this year’s election. Information on how to vote by mail ballot and more topics will be made available over the summer.

    The 2022 Municipal Election preliminary results are as follows:


    Mayor

    Joan Atkinson - 483 votes (Elected)

    Mitch Mortensen - 191 votes


    Councillors

    Jesse Wright - 526 votes (Elected)

    Andy Barnes - 519 votes (Elected)

    Viktor Brumovsky - 514 votes (Elected)

    Kyle Tapper - 474 votes (Elected)

    Raye McMeeken - 399 votes (Elected)

    Amber Hipkiss - 385 votes (Elected)

    Peter Kyllo - 333 votes

    Jamie Gordy - 219 votes

    Janice Nelson - 160 votes

    John Dunnings - 91 votes

    Resident and Non-Resident Electors can now complete the Request for Mail Ballot document.

    Please fill out the document and return to the District Office by:

    • Email;
    • Mail (1 Mackenzie Blvd., Bag 340, Mackenzie, BC, V0J 2C0);
    • Fax (250-997-5186); or
    • In person

    Once completed forms are received, mail ballots will be delivered according to the preference indicated on the forms, starting September 28th.

    Residents are encouraged to attend advanced voting on October 5th or 14th at the District Municipal Office from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm or General Voting Day on Saturday October 15th at the Mackenzie Legion from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm.

    THINKING OF RUNNING FOR COUNCIL?

    The District will be hosting a pre-candidate information session for individuals thinking of running in the upcoming election.

    EVENT INFO:

    The session will include:

    • Overview of the District of Mackenzie
    • Elected Official Roles and Responsibilities
    • Nomination and Election Information
    • Question and Answer Period

    WON'T BE ABLE TO ATTEND?

    Following the meeting, copies of the presentation materials as well as a summary of the questions and answers discussed will be posted on the District website and Let's Chat Mackenzie. Hard copies will be available at the District Office, 1 Mackenzie Blvd.

    • Councillor (six) 6 to be elected

    Nomination Packages can also be picked up in person at the District Municipal Office - Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

    The nomination packages will be received by the Chief Election Officer and Deputy Chief Election Officer as follows:

    • To: Friday September 9, 2022 - 4:00 pm

    The 2022 General Local Election (Mayor, Councillors, and School Trustees) is happening this fall. All eligible voters are encouraged to vote for their new Mayor (one), Councillors (six), and School Trustee (one).

    WHEN?

    General Voting Day is Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. You may also vote at any of our Advance Voting Days on:

    • Wednesday, October 5, 2022
    • Friday, October 14, 2022

    If none of the above dates work for you, you may also vote by Mail Ballot stay tuned for details how to request.
