The 2022 Municipal Election is just around the corner! District of Mackenzie residents will have the opportunity to elect a new Mayor and Council, as well as a new School Trustee to represent their community on the School District 57 Board. General Voting day is Saturday, October 15, 2022. We will have two advance voting opportunities: Wednesday October 5; and Friday October 14. Mail Ballot Voting is also available to all eligible voters this year, making it easier than ever for you to cast your vote in this year’s election. Information on how to vote by mail ballot and more topics will be made available over the summer.

Nomination Packages available, July 29 - September 9

Are you interested in running for City Council or School Trustee? Nomination and Information Packages will be available on the District website, and at the District Municipal Office, from early August to September 9.
Nomination Period, August 30 - September 9
2022 Municipal Election has finished this stage
Candidates can pick up Nomination Packages from August 30 - September 9.
Candidates must formally file their Nomination Packages at the District Municipal Office during this time period, by appointment only.
On this day, depending on various factors during the nomination period, we can expect to confirm the candidates who will be on the voting ballot, and an election will be declared.
Campaign Period, September 17 - October 15
2022 Municipal Election has finished this stage
In this time period, established by Elections BC, candidates may officially promote themselves and their platforms, at public and/or private or third party events. Per Elections BC, campaign period expenses are subject to an expense limit. More information is available on the Elections BC website at Elections.bc.ca(External link).

Advance voting will take place at the District Municipal Office, 1 Mackenzie Blvd., on Friday, October 14, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
General Voting Day, October 15
2022 Municipal Election has finished this stage
Voting will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, 357 Skeena Drive, on Saturday October 15, open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

The Inaugural Council Meeting and Inauguration Ceremony for the new Council will be held on Monday November 7, at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers of the District Municipal Office, 1 Mackenzie Blvd.
